From the sensuous rhythms of the Habanera to the rugged coastline and bleached seashore of the Scottish Highlands, landscapes are vividly brought to life through music in masterful works by Maurice Ravel, Germaine Tailleferre, Robert Schumann and Judith Weir. Through an intricate dialogue between two instruments and four hands, each composer has created an evocative world of sights, smells, rhythms, memories and imaginings. The concert culminates in Ravel’s apocalyptic La Valse for two pianos.
